The whole of Marcelo Vilá, SA ‘s website has been programmed to provide the highest levels of accessibility, equivalent to the AA category, corresponding to the WCAG1.0 standard.
Keyboard shortcuts Following the WAI standard’s recommendations, keyboard shortcuts have been set to facilitate navigation through the main distribution elements of the website’s contents, with the exception of the hypertext links that appear inside the text body of pages, the side menus, articles which are complementary or versions, and projects and systems.
The shortcuts are shown on the table to the right of this paragraph. Depending on the browser and platform used, the activation key could be either ALT or Control (CTRL). The numerical assignation of the shortcuts has been done following international recommendations on the subject regarding the standardised elements of the website.
If you are using the Internet Explorer browser on the Windows platform, it will be necessary to press the ALT key, the alphanumeric identifier key and Enter or Intro to access the desired page directly. With browsers of the Mozilla family, it will only be necessary to press the ALT key and the indicated destination key. On the Apple platform, the ALT key is replaced with the CTRL key.
The pages’ crucial buttons also have an ordered tabulation, it being possible to go from one element on the menu and the auxiliary menus to another by pressing the tab key.
Non-“obtrusive” Ajax Practically all elements that have a large degree of interaction with the visitor have been programmed with Ajax applications. For the selection of the applications with Ajax, it has been requested that they be “non-obtrusive”, facilitating the greatest accessibility or, where appropriate, an alternative for visitors with difficulties accessing all the contained information. The basic development platform is MooTools, but applications have also been developed for this purpose. The image effects, with or without Flash movies, allow a standard and static image to be maintained when the user does not have the right Macromedia Flash player or has JavaScript deactivated.
PDF The website has a large amount of informative material in PDF format. To access this, a PDF file reader is needed. If necessary, the user can use the operating system’s readers (on Mac and Linux platforms), the Adobe reader or any other free software that allows this to be accessed. As a general rule, the text of the PDF files can be copied and pasted into other text documents.
Certification The website has been certified by AccesOK, passing the most demanding accessibility checks.
